With a unusually warm September. the leaves are just beginning to change colors. No frost yet. Average date of the first killing frost is Oct. 4.
--To Robert: I have greatly enjoyed your web site. With your stories of living in Red Rock Country, it is nice to have a feeling of somewhat being acquainted with you. If I may, I would like to pose a couple of questions for you and others in this forum. Your photo galleries are wonderful yet it appears that you are not marketing the pictures. Is that accurate? Also. in the photos there are very few trails or roads visible. Is this on purpose by careful site selection, or has the magic of technology helped in this? Anyway, don't change a thing. They are great.
An area of puzzlement in the Moab area -- Hidden Canyon and Barlett Wash and how the locations relate to each other. Having been there three times - twice coming in from the Barlett Wash trail from the Dubinky Well Road and once coming in from Tusher Wash, and using the Wells book -- it is a very senic and interesting area, BUT, I never seem to know where I am and what parts are Hidden Canyon and which parts are Bartlett Wash. Help! Help!
To Westward Bound: Have you hitched the oxen to the loaded covered wagon, said good-bye to the many people you may not see again and started on your journey to your new life in the west? Be sure to have plenty of corn meal and salt pork with you in the wagon for the times when no fresh meat is available. Keep us appraised of your journey.
To ve6vk and princebarry: How did you become aware of Red Rock Country? Have you been here? Are you going to visit again? What parts of Red Rock Country have you seen? What are looking forward to visiting?
Well, the best to all of you. Get out and enjoy the autumn.

Yes, the La Sals are starting to look quite colorful. I expect the peak in about 1.5 - 2 weeks.
Rhonda and I just returned from a trip to the San Juan Mountains of SW Colorado. It's only a few hours drive from Moab to the picturesque town of Ouray, so I consider it pratically in my backyard. The San Juans are always my first choice for foliage photography because they provide a ruggedly spectacular backdrop for the foliage colors. That area is within days of peak color as I type this. I took the #1 panorama in my panorama section over the weekend and you can see some of the beautiful color that's taking place in SW Colorado right now.

Storm Rider,
Thanks for the very kind comments about my website. Glad you're enjoying it!
In answer to your questions:
1. No, I am not currently marketing my photos. I put them up to share the beauty of this remarkable corner of the world with anyone who is interested.
2. Most of the photos that I take do not have roads visible because in most of them there simply are no roads. I enjoy hiking because it gets me away from the roads. However, I have included roads in a few of my recent photos because they show the scale of the landscape. I never remove roads if they happen to be visible. I try not to do much post-processing.
Have you done much phgotography in southern Utah? For me it is an addiction!
